How does the safety check work?
Three layers, in order. First, an on-device pattern check looks for IDN homographs (mixed-script domains), lookalike brand names, suspicious top-level domains, and known URL shorteners. This is free and runs without a network. If a URL is shortened, the app may follow redirects to find the real destination. If the URL scores as suspicious, it may then be sent to Google Safe Browsing for a reputation lookup. The full URL is sent to Google in plaintext for that one check.
Is my scan history private?
Yes. Scan history lives only on your phone. We do not maintain a server-side copy.
How do I connect to Wi-Fi from a QR?
Open the scanner, point at a Wi-Fi QR. The result sheet shows the network name and a hidden password. Tap "Connect to Wi-Fi" and iOS will join the network. This requires the Hotspot Configuration capability on the app's signing profile.
How do I generate a payment QR?
Open the Create tab and choose the Payment type. Enter the details (for UPI: the VPA, an optional payee name, an amount, and a note). The QR appears live. Save it to your wallet for one-tap access, or pin it to a home-screen widget.
Which payment QRs can I scan, and are they checked?
The app reads payment QRs from many countries — UPI (India), PIX (Brazil), PayNow (Singapore), PromptPay (Thailand), and BharatQR / DuitNow. Before you pay, it flags an unusual amount or a missing payee name so you can double-check the recipient.
Can I use this offline?
Mostly yes. Scanning, parsing, generating, pattern-based safety checks, history search, and wallet display all work without a network. Network is only used for the optional Google Safe Browsing lookup, product info from Open Food Facts, and book info from Open Library and Google Books.
Why does it ask for camera permission?
The app uses your camera to read QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are processed in memory by Apple's Vision framework and discarded as soon as decoding finishes. Frames are never uploaded or stored.
How do I scan a QR from a screenshot?
On the scanner screen, tap the photo icon in the bottom right. Pick the image from your library. The app extracts every QR or barcode the Vision framework can find. Multiple codes in a single image are supported via Document mode.
How do I save a QR to my wallet?
After scanning, open the result sheet and tap Save. The item appears in the Wallet tab. From there you can rename, share, or open it full-screen with auto-brightness boost for easy scanning.
How do I export my data?
Settings → Data and Privacy → Export all data. The app generates a ZIP containing a CSV and a JSON of your full history, plus a JSON of your wallet items. The share sheet opens so you can save it to Files, send it via email, or AirDrop it.
How do I delete everything?
Three independent levers:
- Clear all history in Settings deletes every scan record. Irreversible.
- Clear all wallet items in Settings deletes every saved wallet item. Irreversible.
- Delete the app removes all local data.
