By installing or using SafeScan: QR & Barcode Scanner (the "App," shown on your device as "Safe QR"), you agree to these terms.

What the app is

The App is a utility for scanning, decoding, generating, and safety-checking QR codes and 1D / 2D barcodes. It is provided as-is.

Use at your own discretion

The safety pipeline is heuristic. Pattern checks for phishing, lookalike domains, and IDN homographs can produce false positives and false negatives. Google Safe Browsing results may also be incomplete or out of date. Always exercise judgment before opening a scanned link, paying through a payment QR (UPI, PIX, PayNow, PromptPay, BharatQR, and similar), or sharing scanned contact information.

Product and book data

Product information shown on barcode scans comes from Open Food Facts under their open data license. Book information shown on ISBN scans comes from Open Library and Google Books. We display this data as-is and make no warranty about its accuracy, completeness, or freshness.

Intellectual property

The SafeScan and Safe QR names, logo, and design system are owned by North Studio LLC. The source code may be governed by a separate license; see the repository for details.

Your content

You retain all rights to content you generate or save using the app. Your scan history, wallet items, and generated codes are yours.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, North Studio LLC is not liable for:

  • Losses, damages, or scams resulting from links or payment QRs you scan with the app.
  • Decisions you make based on safety check results.
  • Loss of data due to app crashes, OS bugs, or hardware failures.
  • Any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages of any kind.

Changes to the app

We may add, remove, or change features without notice. We may end support for older iOS versions when Apple drops support for them.

Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We can suspend the app's services (such as URL safety checks via Google Safe Browsing) without notice if abuse is detected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where North Studio LLC is registered. Local consumer protection laws still apply.
